Sand Castles 03:35
Sand Castles Christina Nordstrom There are children building a castle on the Earth’s ancient shore, building a fortress to last through the centuries of war. But for all their skill and labor, despite their best made plans, the tide comes in and the fortress returns to tiny grains of sand. There are children looking for heroes in this world to restore a presence of hope for the fearful, for those who have borne the despair of indifference caused by some cruel “slight of hand.” For some the choice is a light in the road, for some an empty hand. Give the children hope for tomorrow through the gift of today; turn their anger and sorrow into laughter and play. Teach them how to climb the mountain and live upon the land, to build their house on solid ground and not upon the sand. Give the children hope for tomorrow – give them today. Turn your anger and sorrow into laughter and play so that you can climb the mountain and live upon the land. So build your house on solid ground and not upon the sand. Teach them how to climb the mountain and live upon the land, to build their house on solid ground and not upon the sand.

Orphan Train 03:59
Orphan Train Christina Nordstrom My home was in New England, far away in Boston town, but the smallpox took my family and left me on my own. They left me all alone. ‘Twas the year of 1890 when both my parents died. My sister, Jen, it took her, too, as I wept by her side. I wept by her side! All that lonely night I wondered, praying what would become of me? And why, tell me why? But, no answer, no words of comfort be. No words would comfort me. Some of them in town they saw it fit my future to arrange, saying “A child not of age, with no family must ride the orphan train! She’ll ride the orphan train.” As the train pulled out I trembled to the cadence of the wheels below: Where is hope, where is love, where is family? Will I ever know? I will never know! That emptiness I felt within is with me to this day, and that was five long years ago, I’m 17 today. I’m 17 today.

Henry Berg 03:11
Henry Berg Christina Nordstrom, based on a true story as told by Everett Nordstrom My Dad told a story about World War II, about Henry Berg and the mission he flew. Hearing it from his own point of view, made it all so impossibly true. As he told it to me, I will tell it to you. Dad was an ensign, the paymaster who was stationed near Saipan and part of the crew of a Navy flotilla to see the war through, with Berg in the Air Corps and Kallagher, too. Cousins all three, just about 22. He said that Berg flew a B-29 as part of a squadron, the top of the line recognized for their skill and precision in flight; each one was selected and briefed for the fight. None of them knew really what was in sight. After the sortie he rejoined the crew on Tinian Island and Dad was there, too. He told them, “We just dropped a bomb on Japan!” His face, it grew ashen and, with trembling hands, suffered to think he was part of that plan. Searching for solace was of no avail. His comrades were puzzled on hearing the tale. They questioned him, “Why should it trouble you so?” What was so different they wanted to know. All he could say was, “I can’t tell you.” On that 6th day of August the year ’45, just one bomb was dropped, not one soul stayed alive. The mushroom cloud loomed overhead in the sky, as shock waves and fire consumed every cry! Never this way again should one life have to die!

I Will Feed Your Sheep Christina Nordstrom Do you know that man from Nazareth – Jesus of Galilee? He was born to be my brother and to set me free. And he said: “If you love me, feed my children.” That’s what he said to me. Lord, you know I truly love you; I will feed your sheep. “I’m the vine and you’re the branches,” my Jesus said to me. “Love one another, keep my commandment, and abide in me. “If you love me, feed my children.” That’s what he said to me. Lord, you know I truly love you; I will feed your sheep. Ask and you will hear the answer, seek and you will find. Knock, the door will swing wide open. There is love inside. “If you love me, feed my children.” That’s what he said to me. Lord, you know I truly love you; I will feed your sheep. “Peace I leave with you my children, my peace I give this day. Don’t you let your hearts be troubled, do not be afraid.” Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Halle-Hallelujah. Hallelujah, Hallelujah, Hal-le-lu-u-jah. “If you love me, feed my children.” That’s what he said to me. Lord, you know I truly love you; I will feed your sheep.

The Peaceable City Christina Nordstrom There is a place assured by a promise, where strong and weak walk side-by-side. There is no fear, just a “blessed assurance” that all are free by grace and in love abide. There’s not on earth the likes of that city, but there’s the hope of one that’s yet to come. To show the way, the key to the kingdom: one sacrifice, “once for all” – one only Son. In faith be sure of all that you hope for and certain of what you do not see. Though things on earth and heaven be shaken, with joy and thanks receive the promise yet to be. Do not forget the needs of a stranger, and treat him as a welcome guest. In doing so, “some have entertained angels.” And with the grace and peace of God you will be blessed. Keep your life free from the love of money, and be content with what you have, for He has said, “I’ll never forsake you.” And so secure in that hope “don’t be afraid.” May I be sure of all that I hope for. “Lord, I believe; help my unbelief!” Your kingdom come – your peaceable city! It dwells within the heart: “Ask, seek, receive!” Your kingdom come – your peaceable city! It’s right there in your heart: “Ask, seek, receive!”

Colonel Kernel Christina Nordstrom I said, “Tell me, Colonel Kernel, why whole grains are the best.” He said, “They’re a gift from Mother Nature for you and all the rest, with all the nutrients you need to fuel your body. Pass the cornbread, please.” I said, “Tell me, Colonel Kernel, why whole grains are the best.” He said, “They’re a gift from Mother Nature, don’t put her to the test! White bread, rice or pasta and rolls – have less of these. Try them made with whole grains. Pass the tabbouleh, please!” I said, “Tell me, Colonel Kernel, why whole grains are the best.” He said, “They’re a gift from Mother Nature, the natural scientist. When you mix grains with nuts and seeds and beans, they form a protein. Pass the hummus, please!” I said, “Thank you, Colonel Kernel, to you I must confess, I didn’t think I’d like them, but now they’re just the best. I like peanut butter, whole wheat bread and raisins, if you please! Thank you, Mother Nature, for making all of these!” I said, “Thank you, Colonel Kernel, to you I must confess, I didn’t think I’d like them, but now they’re just the best. I even tried polenta with tomato sauce and cheese! Thank you, Mother Nature, for making all of these!”

But, if there’s too much in my body In my arteries it sticks like glue! Cholesterol’s been cloggin’ up my arteries and That’s not all, fat’s been hangin’ ‘round, too! I’ll fool them all with whole grains and veggies, And exercise my whole life through! Cholesterol’s been cloggin’ up my arteries and That’s not all, fat’s been hangin’ ‘round, too! I’ll fool them all, take charge of my body So I won’t sing those Lipid Blues! Now fat supplies concentrated calories And, it’s true, we need fat, too. But, keep in mind the rule is moderation With nine calories a gram just a little will do! French fries ... “super-size” ... is that wise ...?
