Psalm 2007

Psalm 2007
Yesterdays in my life,
most were filled with love and gladness,
and my faith was as deep
as the waters of the sea.
Now, today, there is strife
and the world is lost in madness.
Through my eyes I just can’t see.
Oh, my Lord, hear me calling,
pick me up, I keep falling.
I can’t pray, lost the way.
Oh, my Lord, can you hear me?
Night and day, what to say;
all the words still elude me.
There’s no peace in my mind.
Precious Lord, can you hear me?
Once you said daily Bread
would be mine just for the asking,
and the secret of life is freely yours to give.
Well, I stand here and ask
that the Bread that feeds the Spirit
might be shared that we may live!
Oh, my Lord, hear me calling,
pick me up, I keep falling.
I can’t pray, lost the way.
Oh, my Lord, can you hear me?
Night and day, what to say;
all the words still elude me.
There’s no peace in my mind.
Precious Lord, can you hear me?

Restless Heart
03:22
|
|||
Restless Heart
Restless heart, I’ve heard you’re wondering
‘bout this new road you’re trav’lin on,
‘bout where you’ve been and where you’re going,
how you’ll live, and what’s left undone.
But, oh, dear heart, why are you worrying
about what you’ll find along the way?
Trust in the love that is abiding,
not only now, but for all your days.
This new road can lead to freedom.
Though you might stumble on the way,
for every step there is a reason,
and every mile’s a yesterday.
Oh, dearest heart, walk in the sunlight.
Don’t look back; no need to fear.
Even at dark, trust in the stars’ light
to guide you home, to sing you near.
Yes, this road can lead to freedom.
Where there’s a will, you’ll find your way.
And what is sown comes in due season;
who knows what part you’ve yet to play.
Oh, dearest heart, walk in the sunlight.
Don’t turn back; your way is clear.
Even at dark, trust in the stars’ light
to guide you home, to sing you near.

Mafeja
04:23
|

Mafeja
Back in her homeland again,
tired and longing for rest,
Lucy remembered her friends
and family by whom she was blessed.
Giving her strength to go on
for justice and equality,
they shared her claim of the call
in solidarity. Oo-oo...
The day after Lucy arrived,
the phone interrupted her sleep.
Drowsiness still in her eyes,
she woke up to hear Sonia speak.
Dreaming turned into dismay;
disbelieving, she heard Sonia say,
“Lucy, thank God you’ve arrived!
Hate took the life of Mafeja!” Oo-oo...
Mafeja, a girl of sixteen,
filled with light, was pursuing a dream
with the hope to live fully and free,
though campesino was she.
She was one of the Angels
with her brother and sisters three.
Who would have known that last evening
her life would no longer be? Oo-oo...
Her head filled with anguish and pain,
Lucy felt anger and shame.
Like the bullet had pierced her own heart,
the senselessness tore her apart.
But in the midst of her pain,
strength to go on she would gain,
for Love spoke to her once again,
and said: “Your work is not in vain.
You don’t need to cry when an Angel dies,
for they go directly to God.”
The neighborhood gathered ’round;
silence the only sound.
But, Lucy’s faith was renewed,
for her “Angels without shoes.”
Despite the weight of their fears,
a new song sang loud and clear;
In the midst of their grief and tears,
Love’s voice broke through, saying:
“You don’t need to cry when an Angel dies,
for they go directly to God.”

The Sower and the Seeds
02:51
|
|||
The Sower and the Seeds
There’s a story ’bout Jesus
when he sat beside the sea –
how a great crowd had gathered
to seek his company.
In order to teach them,
so that they all might see,
he got into a boat, and said,
“Listen to me!”
“A Sower went out sowing,
and, as he sowed the seeds,
some fell on the pathway;
birds snatched them up like thieves.
Still some of the seed, well,
it fell on rocky ground.
But the seedlings they all withered
when the morning sun came ‘round.
“As the Sower kept sowing,
some fell among the thorns,
the thorns grew around them
and choked them, one by one.
But, finally, the Sower,
he found a fertile field,
and some thirty, some sixty,
some one hundred fold the yield.”
His disciples they asked him
why parables he gave.
“The reason is, in seeing,
that they do not perceive;
in hearing they won’t listen,
nor do they comprehend.
But to you it has been given,
only you will understand.”
Then he told them Isaiah
foretold it long ago:
“Indeed you will listen,
but you will never know,
Your eyes will behold it,
but you will never see.
Oh, would that they hear within their hearts
and turn, turn to me!”
But blessed are the eyes
of the faithful for they see,
and blessed are the humble,
they hear with certainty
the promise of the Sower,
of the Kingdom that has come,
as he gathers up the wheat
and he saves it in his barn.

I Would Build a Garden
03:08
|
|||
I Would Build a Garden
I would build a garden
deep within this earth,
where fertile soil would anchor,
sustain the seedling’s birth,
made from sacred seeds that you sow,
rooted in new life, which can grow
deep within my heart.
Grant me wisdom to know
the secret of dying in love
just as the seed dies to earth,
releasing its promise fulfilled in new birth.
I would build that garden,
but you the gardener be.
Harvest only goodness
for all the world to see –
made from sacred seeds that you sow,
rooted in new life which can grow
deep within my heart.
Grant me courage to grow,
trusting in your love alone,
dying to live life anew,
tending your garden of love forever, for you!
Blessed are the seeds that you sow,
rooted in new life which can grow
deep within my heart.
Grant me courage to grow,
trusting in your love alone,
dying to live life anew,
tending your garden of love forever, for you!
